Aestrid, the Utrecht-based post-rock band led by Bo Menning, serves up post-rock with a touch of '90s emo. Menning's Thom Yorke-esque vocals create shoegazey indie rock, featuring tracks ranging from delicately intimate to intense and infused with piercing screams. The trio, consisting of Bo Menning, drummer Ray Murphy, and bassist-keyboardist Jurriaan JJ Sielcken, releases the new album 'Youth Care.'
An emotionally charged record where Menning confronts his inner demons. With profound lyrics, as seen in the elongated 'Death Wisher,' the band reflects on the nightmare of constant trauma, while 'Mirror Maze' invites the listener to participate in the struggle.
