These veterans from New York have been mixing ska, reggae and rock 'n roll since the early 1990s and won over the Melkweg several times. The Slackers' sound is deeply rooted in the music of legendary Jamaican bands like The Skatalites and The Upsetters, while American retro sounds from blues, soul and rock also play a big part. Lyrically, The Slackers are very politically inspired, yet live they always make it a fun party as well. In 2022, they released their 15th album 'Dont Let the Sunlight Fool Ya', and later this year they will release a 20th anniversary edition of the album 'Close My Eyes'.
