PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT stands for an artistic collective of thirty two graduating photography students from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (NL). The common thread between them is that they are highly inquisitive. They question relevant topics and use the medium of photography with all its new possibilities and presentation forms to formulate a statement and position.
The art collective was formed in the spring of 2017 and has already exhibited in Bratislava, (Slovakia), Unseen Photo Festival (Amsterdam), organised a self curated show ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ (the Hague) and collaborated with curator Femke Lutgerink for their exhibition “Good Work”. (Den Haag). The collective has also self-published a photographic publication, ‘Appendix’.
From the 23rd of May Push It To The Limit will present to you a teaser of their Graduation Work in which you will be able to buy exclusive prints.
“When we speak of images, we refer to them as being ‘read’ — but whose words do we speak of when an image has a thousand of them? The project description and the wall text have become integral to the relationship between audience and image. These texts take an often dominant stance in experiencing the image. We set out to explore what happens when image and text are separated, given distance and a new form. The often silent image will be given a chance to speak for itself.”
