Together with Tropenmuseum we will be showing the best animes on the big screen every month, coinciding with their exposition 'Cool Japan'. Ranging from cult-classics to modern day masterpieces by renowned makers such as Studio Ghibli.

'Nausicaä' is the first film of Miyazaki and is a beautiful tale about the battle between human and nature. In the far away future giant insects threathen the last remaining people. The cool princess Nausicaä is the only one who believes the relationship between humanity and nature can be restored. With its epic story, the cool hero, the bizarre creatures and awesome animations this film is one of the best Ghibli's.

With an introduction of Philo Ouweleen (Camera Japan Festival), a Japanologist with a broad field of interest, specialized in Japanese art and media. She has a soft spot for the films of studio Ghibli and works in the cultural field.
