IN-EDIT is back! From 16 to 20 June the third edition of the music documentary festival takes place at multiple locations this year, including the Melkweg. Again many great music films will be screened this year, like this Dutch première of' "Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm" from Hannah Berryman!
Rockfield is the unlikely tale of how two Welsh farming brothers turned their dairy farm into one of the most successful recording studios of all time, producing four decades of legendary rock music. Featuring Black Sabbath, Oasis, Coldplay, The Stone Roses, Robert Plant, Queen and many more!
50 years ago, deep in the Welsh countryside, two brothers were milking cows and preparing to take over the family farm - but dreamed of making music. They had the audacious idea to build a studio in their farmhouse attic and record their own tunes. Animals were kicked out of barns and musicians were moved into Nan’s spare bedroom. Inadvertently, they’d launched the world’s first independent residential recording studio: Rockfield.
Black Sabbath, Queen, Robert Plant, Iggy Pop, Simple Minds, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Coldplay, Hawkwind, The Charlatans, Manic Street Preachers and more made mayhem and music at Rockfield over the decades. This is a story of rock and roll dreams intertwined with a family business’s fight for survival in the face of an ever- changing music landscape.
Melkweg Cinema is thé Dutch film theater for music films. From unique concert films to much talked about music documentaries: the whole spectrum of music film can be seen here.
