With their albums 'Rattus Norvegicus' and 'No More Heroes', The Stranglers established their name in 1977. They scored about 23 top 40 singles and 17 top 40 albums in the UK during their forty-year career. The group was also popular in the Netherlands, with several top-40 hits and performances in Toppop and Pinkpop as proof.
Because of their short, direct songs the band was often seen as one of the founders of the British punk rock scene, but in fact the band seldom followed a musical genre and effortlessly intertwined new wave with artrock and gothic with sophistipop. Singer / guitarist Hugh Cornwell gave it a shot in 1990, but the other members make a regular tour of clubs and festivals,
which makes The Stranglers one of the longest surviving and most consistently successful bands in the British punk scene. Thursday December 5th they will stop their bus in Amsterdam, on their way to everyone with only a little punk blood flowing through their veins. Beat the dust off your LPs and warm up your voice as all major hits will be on their setlist.
