TIP-OFF #9: NEW GENERATION

We kindly invite you to join us on Wednesday 25 January 2023 for the first TIP-OFF of this year, but number #9 in the history of Tip-Off already, this time focusing on the NEW GENERATION!

Finding your way into the creative field is something that requires a lot of trust in yourself and in your process. With this event, we want to help young makers learn how to trust the process and how to navigate through the oftentimes challenging creative sector.

Together with an inspiring group of emerging contemporary artists and creatives, moderator Shaquille Shaniqua Joy will be having a conversation about the new generation of makers and their challenges and opportunities ahead.

We’re ready to hear new voices and create connections between fellow creatives who are just getting started in the business and professionals from the field. After the panel talk, we will close off the evening, and kick off the new year together with new year’s drinks in our Expo space: an opportunity to meet, connect, network and ask your questions in an informal setting.

Come and celebrate the new year and the new generation with us!

Tickets are only €7,50 including drinks. Do not miss this opportunity!

PROGRAMME & SPEAKERS

  • Wolter Pot (he/him, fashion designer)
Rotterdam native Wolter Pot is a fashion designer who studied at ArtEZ in Arnhem. His research often starts with a certain obsession. This can be seen for example in his graduation collection, in which he uses vintage towels. To find these, he searched the Internet every morning. In his work, the material he uses often guides the form his pieces take on. He finds it important that his work is wearable and therefore accessible to a wide audience. He describes himself as a typical Dutch designer. "Clear and sleek in form, but with a big gesture."

  • Ferris Osseiran (he/him, photographer)
Ferris Osseiran (1998) is a Rotterdam based photographer. Within his work he tries to build a bridge between his own autonomous vision and his love for fashion photography, creating an experimental and raw visual language.

  • Ford Curlingford (they/them, filmmaker)
Ford is a multidisciplinary person by nature. From photography and graphic design, now with a main focus on film. Ford has found their place in the film world. In collaboration with a small team, their first film was made by the Miami Screendance festival. The second film called IDEM was also very well received, with Ford in charge of both script (together with Eva Belien) and direction. Meanwhile, their next film is already in development and has not gone unnoticed by various production houses and streaming services.

  • Robin Alysha Clemens (she/her, photographer)
Clemens' project Performing Adulthood - about Gen Z - will be on view at our Expo, and she will be present to tell you all about her career, her artistic practice and this particular project.
