Noël Loozen - De Spoetnik

This astronomical snack lifts me into a meditative state. Assembling the Spoetnik with its repetitive process clears my head completely. Pure bliss. The most spiritual snack I know!

Ingredients

  • medium sized skewers
  • tasty meatballs
  • large onions
  • cheap curry sauce

Directions

Take a medium-sized skewer, a tasty meatball and a large onion. Cut both the onion and the meatball into five equal pieces. The number of pieces can vary depending on the size of the meatball or onion. This does not matter. Do mind that the pieces have the same width. Do not slice them too thinly. They are allowed to be of some substance. With the skewer in your left hand and the end of the meatball in your right hand, skew the piece of meatball with the curve towards the end of the skewer.

Now the Spoetnik meditation may commence:  one piece of onion, one piece of meatball, one piece of onion, one piece of meatball, one piece of onion, one piece of meatball, one piece of onion, one piece of meatball”, until you finish with the other end of the meatball.

Toss the Spoetnik into a hot deep fryer and wait until it rises to the surface. The meatball should look nicely browned and crispy.   

My personal favourite is curry sauce, which I pour all over the Spoetnik. And we have lift-off!
