BIXARIA

BIXARIA is an Amsterdam-based Queer Brazilian Club Night focused on creating space for shaking all the r4bas! In Brazilian slang, “shaking the raba” means dancing with your butt up and down as much as you want, in whatever way you like and as far as your imagination can take you! It is about fun, joy, sensuality and collective creativity, exactly the way we love it in the streets of Brazil.

BIXARIA holds space for people who want to explore their bodies in whatever moment of life they are in. We are a queer party centred on non-normative, disruptive, dissident, experimental and politically engaged ways of moving, embodying and living. BIXARIA emerges from communities of immigr4nts, BIPOC queers, artists, activists, experimental scenes and dissenting bodies. We do not assume anyone’s gender or orientation, and we are not focused on how anyone “looks”. If you want to enter BIXARIA, we ask that you read our door policy and allow yourself to be welcomed, and perhaps gently touched queer, by Mother Lucía and the Gender Awareness Team. So do not be afraid, you are queer enough and everybody is welcome. We love you as you are, and the goal is to have fun.

Expect contemporary Brazilian Funk, Brega Funk, Techno Brega, Brazilian House, Dembow and experiments crossing all of that. DJs, performances, MCs and, most importantly, you. We are not a rave party, we are a performatic experience. Each edition has a theme, so feel free to dress up and help embody it with us.

BIXARIA is organized by La Cigra$$ninha and cared for by Mother Lucía, artists developing community based projects across several countries.
