WELCOME TO BIXARIA – a queer club night from Amsterdam where all the rabas are free to shake!

In Brazilian slang, “shaking your raba” means dancing with your bum up and down — celebrating yourself without worrying about what others think. It’s all about joy, creativity, and freedom in your body, shared with others. BIXARIA plays contemporary Brazilian electronic music, but it’s far more than your average club night. Performers and audience co-create the experience. Each edition comes with a theme — so dress up, live your fantasy, and let go!

What to expect?

At BIXARIA, we don’t assume anyone’s gender, and we’re not concerned with how people look. This is a space for experimentation — on your own terms, in whatever way you need. We have a door policy and a Gender Awareness Team led by Mother Lucía: a gender coach and floor manager who’s always present to support, guide, and look after the well-being of our community throughout the night. Our space centres immigrant, BIPOC and experimental communities — the ones we are part of ourselves. But everyone who comes to support the vibe is welcome.

BIXARIA is organised by La Cigra$$ninha, an artist with community-driven projects across multiple countries.

We recommend reading Bixaria's door policy before buying a ticket, to learn more about the experience.

This edition's theme: Dog sucking a Mango

  • Dog sucking a mango

    • The Dog Sucking a Mango is an ancient form.
A sign that appears when reality cracks.
A vision from the deep night,
when the world is tired of pretending.
      It is something impossible.

      A complete absurdity.
      Something that should not exist,
      yet suddenly does.

When someone finds the Dog Sucking a Mango,
      the doorgate opens.
      A moment of realization
where one desire can be asked.

The Devil in its pure form appears,
beyond the binary of good and bad,
the one who breaks the rule.

Here comes the collapse of shame and fear.
The end of the war against the body,
and against the bodies of others.

The Dog Sucking a Mango is a sacred messenger.
It tells you: your search is over.
      You do not need permission.
You do not need to be saved.

      Let go of conservatism.
      Let go of control.
Let go of the cage you learned to call normal.

      Deliver yourself
to the burning flames of pleasure,
      rock’n’roll
      and hell.

      The Dog is already here.
      The mango is already open.
      Now it’s your turn.
