Nachtburgemeester Verkiezing 2026

In November, Amsterdam will elect a new Night Mayor. Nearly four years after Freek Wallagh's arrival as the people's representative of the night, this election night will take you through the entire process leading up to the announcement of his successor (and the party, of course). 

The jury introduces itself, the finalists enter the arena, votes will be cast, tallies counted. After the debate, once the city’s members-you-has had its say, the ceremonial chain of office will be handed over. And then finally: formalities behind us, and feet off the floor at the very first performance. Or: hands in the air. 

During the official afterparty, “de nachtridderschappen” will be awarded. You can find more information about the elections at nachtburgemeester.amsterdam. All parts of the programme are free to attend. For this night only: everyone’s on the guest list.

In this election debate, you'll get to know the candidates, their campaigns and their ideas. What do they stand for, and how will they commit themselves to the Amsterdam night in the years to come? Moderated by Veerle Klok, topics such as safety and wellbeing will be addressed, we'll talk about accessibility at night, and we'll explore the place of night culture in relation to the municipality. Alongside questions from the expert jury, there will also be room for discussion from the audience. The candidates will be announced soon [on our website].
