The Welsh punk band Panic Shack is coming to Melkweg! Over the past few years, they've built a strong live reputation, with just a handful of singles released. They've already shared the stage with names like (and Melkweg alumni) Bob Vylan, Soft Play, and Lambrini Girls. This year, it's finally time for their debut album, which drops on July 18th. With tracks like 'Gok Wan' and 'Girl Band Starter Pack,' they take you on a journey through their signature sound — a sound that, according to them, “has the same effect as popping a bottle of Prosecco."
“Thrashy early LA-style punk with choreography that owes something to the Go-Go’s and Iron Maiden all at once.”
The album was recorded with producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius, Yard Act), with whom they’re taking their bold punk sound to new heights. From vocal harmonies, synths, and electronic influences to a stray trumpet — and even the party-punk answer to the iconic intro of the Spice Girls' 'Wannabe.'
