After his time as frontman of the Sex Pistols, John Lydon founded the post-punk pioneering collective Public Image Ltd (PiL). With a shifting lineup and a unique sound – blending rock, dance, folk, pop, and dub – Lydon led the band from their debut album ‘First Issue’ in 1978 to ‘That What Is Not’ in 1992. Albums that helped shape the genre and established them as flag bearers of post-punk.
In 2009, Lydon revived PiL after a 17-year hiatus, embarking on extensive tours and releasing three critically acclaimed albums: ‘This is PiL’ in 2012, followed by ‘What The World Needs Now...’ in 2015 and ‘End of World’ in 2023. In 2026, PiL will come to Melkweg with the This Is Not The Last Tour.
