An artist’s duty is to reflect the times, and this year has certainly been one for the books. In troubled times, music has proven to be a powerful medium in the battle against injustice and ignorance, giving a voice to the unheard, bringing the ugly truth to light and most importantly, inspiring change. On the 15th of December the master students of the pop department at the Conservatory of Amsterdam will engage in honest conversations about the importance of Activism in Music. The panel will include guest artists who have addressed different societal issues through their music, and who have used their platform to advocate for specific causes. These artists will not only give us an insight into their creative process, but will also tell us about how their activism is received by their audience and ultimately how it shapes their career. Join this online event live from our Melkweg Amsterdam Facebook at 7:30PM (CET).
Online webinar panel: Naaz, Jeangu Macrooy, Dieuwertje Heuvelings (author of Auxiety), and Henca Maduro (co-founder urban music conference New Skool Rules).
With live music by: Fré (solo), Shishani, KOWNU and The Tell.
