Musical couple Amadou & Mariam have been making music together that is loved worldwide for more than 40 years. In 1991, the couple first released their songs on cassette, after which they were invited to perform in Paris. The album 'Dimanche a Bamako' was a huge success and led to tours, awards and fame throughout Africa and Europe. With their now golden status as ambassadors of Malian and African music, the couple continues to perform on the world's major stages and festivals like Glastonbury.
Known for their eclectic fusion of genres with traditional and modern instruments, they collaborated with the likes of Damon Albarn (Blur), Manu Chao, Santigold, Sofi Tukker and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Today, Amadou & Mariam have built up an impressive discography, with the new EP 'Mon Amour Mon Chéri' added in February.
The duo will return to our MAX on Thursday 5 September 2024!
