Hear Here!

    presented on World Refugee Day

    CINEMA UP

On World Refugee Day, we invite you to Hear, Here! The festival where we meet each other through music, stories, and conversations.

Hear, Here is a night at the Melkweg where you don’t just come to watch, you come to take part. Organised by people with a refugee background, undocumented people, and ASKV, this festival welcomes people from all backgrounds, especially undocumented people and those with a refugee background.

One moment you’re on the dance floor, the next you’re listening to a powerful story. First you learn some dabke dance moves together, then you hear someone share what it’s like to build a life in a new country or to live without residence papers. The night moves back and forth between energy, music, and moments that make you pause and listen. The choice is yours.

Throughout the evening you’ll meet new people, have fun, and discover stories you may not have heard before. Music, dance, and different cultures come together in one space. Between the beats, you’ll hear the experiences of people who had to leave their home countries or who are living here without official status. You get to know each other not only by listening, but also by dancing, laughing, and sharing something together.

Hear, Here is for anyone curious about other people and their stories. Come for the vibe, stay for the encounters. You might go home with a new song in your playlist, a new dance move, or simply a story that stays with you.

Tickets are free for people with a refugee background and undocumented people. For everyone else, we ask for a small contribution to help cover the costs.
