20:30 Doors 21:00 Holland Pop 1970 (2024)

June 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of the Holland Pop Festival in Rotterdam's Kralingse Bos. Known as the European answer to Woodstock, this festival was a milestone in European music history. It was the first large-scale event in Europe where visitors could also stay overnight on the festival grounds. Almost 100,000 people gathered on the festival grounds over three days, driven by an atmosphere of love, peace and happiness, to listen to legendary bands such as Santana, Jefferson Airplane and Pink Floyd. This documentary about this historic event includes interviews with the former organisers and Ferri Ronteltap collecting archive footage to paint a vivid picture of this special period in the history of music.

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
