Soul singer Lee Fields began his career in the late 1960s, after which he released singles such as 'The Bullis Coming' and 'The Funky Screw'. His breakthrough came in 2009 when his single 'My World' was released, which he recorded with his band Lee Fields & The Expressions. In 2022, he joined Daptone, reuniting with Gabriel Roth to record his most recent album, 'Sentimental Fool'. The album has artist from the Daptone family on it like guitarist Thomas Brenneck, bassist Benny Trokan and drummer Brain Wolfe. After five decades, he has more than 20 albums and 40 singles to his credit, including his latest single ‘Waiting on the Sidelines’, which he released June 2023. In July 2024 he will be at Melkweg with a show in our OZ!

Before Lee Fields' performance, we will screen the documentary 'Faithful Man' again in our Cinema. Directors Jessamyn Ansary and Joyce Mishaan spent nine years working on this film, which tells the story of how Lee finally found his place in soul history - from vinyl to virtual, and back again! In February 2023, the film premiered in our Cinema, with the presence of Lee himself. The screening starts at 18:00 and is open to concert visitors only. There is a surcharge for the film and it is free for Cineville pass holders, click here for combo tickets!
