For 20 years, Rootsriders have been travelling the world in the footsteps of their musical hero Bob Marley, still the undisputed King of Reggae, and since 2017 they have been joined by Sudanese singer Mo Ali. To celebrate this anniversary, this year they are asking Marley fans which songs they would like to hear. And as their own support act, they will also be playing songs from their recently released album “Beautiful Day Beautiful Life”!
Rootsriders were formed in 2006 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Bob Marley's death with a sold-out concert here at the Melkweg. Current lead singer of The Wailers Mitchell Brunings, Shirma Rouse and Giovanca are well-known former members. In 2021, the band reached the final of the first edition of the SBS6 programme “The Tribute, Battle of the Bands” and performed with the three other finalists in a sold-out Ziggo Dome. The band also performs frequently abroad, both at their own concerts and at festivals.
