Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg and Paard present ‘Getting the Band Back Together’ in November, a joint music film programme celebrating bands in all shapes, sizes and genres.

'Sing Street', directed by John Carney (Once, Begin Again), is set in 1985, where we follow 14-year-old Conor (Ferdia Walsch-Peelo) as he moves from a private school to a rough state school in Dublin when his parents can no longer afford the fees. At school, he has to deal with a strict headmaster, whilst at home his parents do nothing but argue. His escape is music, the basics of which he learns from his older brother Brendan (Jack Reynor). When he meets the beautiful Raphina (Lucy Boynton), Conor falls in love at first sight. He asks her if she’d like to appear in his band’s music video. Conor will have to act fast to put a band together, because the band he’s talking about – the one he hopes will impress Raphina – doesn’t actually exist yet.

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
