Africa's next guitar hero - Vieux Farka Touré - is coming to Amsterdam! Often referred to as “The Hendrix of the Sahara”, Vieux Farka Touré As the son of legendary Malian and late guitar player Ali Farka Touré, he is certainly no stranger to music.
With each new project, Vieux expands his horizons, embraces new challenges and further entrenches his reputation as one of the world’s most talented and innovative musicians.
Last year, the guitarist collaborated with Khruangbin to honour his father's legacy. The trio's psychedelic funk proved popular across countries and continents, including Ali and Vieux's beloved Mali:
"I wanted to do this tribute with Khruangbin because I adore their music and they are a great example of musicians from another generation, and from a very different part of the world, who were also inspired and influenced by my father," says Vieux. "I want to convey love with this album. It's about the love I have for him and that Khruangbin has for his music."
