Bixaria invites VRAU for WorldPride!

Bixaria and Berlin collective VRAU join forces at Club Chrome - a multidisciplinary festival by Melkweg, bringing together music, art and activism. On Saturday 8 August, we celebrate the vibrant culture of queer baile funk from Brasil.

A celebration of queer Baile Funk culture - for and by immigrants

BIXARIA is an Amsterdam based Queer Brazilian Club Night focused on creating space for shaking all the rabas! In Brazilian slang, “shaking the raba” means dancing with your butt up and down as much as you want, in whatever way you like and as far as your imagination can take you! It is about fun, joy, sensuality and collective creativity, exactly the way we love it in the streets of Brazil.

VRAU is a queer Brazilian party based in Berlin, dedicated to promoting the vibrant culture of queer baile funk from Brasil. We celebrate the incredible diversity of music across Brasil and bring the absolute highlights of our community to Europe, stretching from Baile Funk to other genres that define our queer culture. Since 2023, we have been bringing this energy straight to Germany. VRAU is organized by queer people for everyone who is open to dancing, connecting, and celebrating. The core of VRAU is loud bass, twerking, and expressing the joy of Brazilian music through movement. On our dance floor, the only things that matter are how hard you can shake that ass and how kind you are to others—bringing the exact vibe and freedom of queer parties in Brasil. The floor was created years ago by HIØ with a core mission: to build an open, safe space for queer immigrants to express themselves freely in Berlin.

Agenda

    Line-up

    • Live concert

      • As Abusadas are a trio from Grajaú, São Paulo, comprising Katy da Voz, Palladino Proibida and Degoncé Rabetão. Since 2019, they have blended punk, funk, pop and electronic music with bold lyricism, sensuality and a strong political voice. Their releases include *Cantigas de Amor Para Se Cantar na Roda* (2021), *Entrando na Garrafa* (2022) and *Sacolão das Faveladas* (2022). They have collaborated with artists including Getúlio Abelha, Jup do Bairro, Urias and Lia Clark. Their latest album, *A Visita* (2025), earned a place on the APCA’s 100 Best of the Year, confirming their growing impact on Brazilian music.
    • DJ set

      • Founder of VRAU and based in Berlin, HIØ is a DJ and producer of Brazilian Funk and other sub-styles of Latin electronic music. Bringing the energy from queer Brazilian parties to Berlin, VRAU started in Germany a few years ago with VRAU. His sets are made for twerking all night long, giving a highlight to the Brazilian queer scene.
      • XD Erica is a São Paulo–born, Berlin-based DJ and performer working with sound, club culture, and performance. Drawing from Brazilian funk, techno, hard dance, and Latin-peripheral music, her practice is deeply rooted in Black musical traditions shaped by the Black Music balls organized by her family in 1980s São Paulo. As a co-founder of the Brazilian collective Chernobyl, she explores queer, Black, and plus-size embodiment, confronting illness, transphobia, and systems of exclusion through music and performance.
      • FILAIPE is cunt, a cria and creative powerhouse from the outskirts of Rio, now unleashing batuque and booming broken rhythms in Europe. Funk, grime, footwork, kuduro, vogue and bouyon converge in a sonority connected to territory and ancestrality and described as ritual and rebellion.

    What to expect?

At BIXARIA, we don’t assume anyone’s gender, and we’re not concerned with how people look. This is a space for experimentation — on your own terms, in whatever way you need. We have a door policy and a Gender Awareness Team led by Mother Lucía: a gender coach and floor manager who’s always present to support, guide, and look after the well-being of our community throughout the night. Our space centres immigrant, BIPOC and experimental communities — the ones we are part of ourselves. But everyone who comes to support the vibe is welcome. BIXARIA is organised by La Cigra$$ninha, an artist with community-driven projects across multiple countries.

We recommend reading Bixaria's door policy before buying a ticket, to learn more about the experience.
