A bloody struggle is raging in Sudan over the country’s wealth, such as gold, gum arabic (an important ingredient in many of the products we use), fertile agricultural land, and power. Other countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), are also eyeing Sudan’s riches and are thus helping to sustain the conflict.

Would you like to learn more about the history of Sudan and the courageous struggle of Sudanese people for their independence? And also about the current conflict and what we in the Netherlands can do to draw more attention to it? Then come to Don’t Stop Talking About Sudan — an evening where we share knowledge, hear stories, eat together, experience music, and dance. Because connection, culture, and togetherness are indispensable in times of injustice.

LINE-UP:

  • Razeen fled Sudan for the Netherlands as a child. He often sings about the war in his native country and life between two worlds. In his songs, Razeen mixes his Afro-Islamic roots with a pop and punk sound.
  • Maha is a creative jack-of-all-trades. Her punk songs are a form of protest, such as the single No Profit from 2025. She is also a model and runs a magazine about activism and the Sudanese diaspora.
  • Hatoon enchants you with her beautiful voice and dreamy sound. She combines future soul with Sudanese folk, and the result is something very unique.
