17:00 Doors 17:30 Green Border (2023)

This day, not only can you come and vote in your favourite concert hall, but after fulfilling your civic duty, you can also watch films and dance at the brand new festival sELECTION!! Cast your vote for the European elections and then meet up-and-coming musical talent from all corners of Europe, or watch films about European identity and democracy in our Cinema, such as Green Border by director Agnieszka Holland.

The treacherous forests that form the so-called 'green border' between Belarus and Poland are home to refugees trying to reach Europe via this route. Belarus tries to undermine the EU by encouraging this border crossing, while Poland refuses to allow them in. And so the refugees end up in a cold, swampy no man's land, without food and medical care. Like pawns in a political game, the lives of activist Julia, border guard Jan and a Syrian family are intertwined.

The film programme was created in collaboration with Creative Europe Desk NL.
