Almost five years after their last performance in the Netherlands, the legendary group The Streets is back on stage at Melkweg! In the early 2000s, they rose to fame with a mix of hip-hop, garage, and rock, led by the unmistakable British accent of frontman Mike Skinner and his personal raps. Albums like "Original Pirate Material" (2002) and "A Grand Don't Come For Free" (2004) established the group as an influential voice in British culture. After their hiatus in 2011, Mike Skinner surprised everyone in 2019 with the announcement that The Streets were making a comeback. With the mixtape "No One Is Getting Out Of This Live Alive," fans got a taste of new music, featuring collaborations with Tame Impala, Ms Banks, Donae'o, and Idles.
And now, there's finally a film accompanying the eponymous album 'The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light' - the first new album since 2011! Skinner takes us on a captivating journey through nightlife, visiting clubs across the country, capturing the true essence of a night out. On the album, this translates into a danceable mix of bass, garage, and house!
