The Belgian quintet Whispering Sons brings a dark and unique blend of experimental and hectic post-punk.  The propulsive instrumentation, combined with the deep and dark voice of Fenne Kuppens, creates an ominous atmosphere that has been inherent to their music since the beginning of their career. Their ferocious and captivating performances are as infamous as their music and give the band the status of a must-see live act.

Over the last years, the band has been slowly but surely redrawing their own boundaries and going beyond them. Where their debut album ‘Image’ (2018) was theatrical and widescreen, their latest record ‘Several Others’ (2021) focused more on their greatest strength — sheer, unpretentious intensity. They are currently working on a sequel, all the more reason to visit this show in Melkweg.

Plexi Stad will open the night! Plexi Stad creates a unique blend of melancholy and infectious rhythms in their unpredictable music. The Antwerp-based group released their first EP last year, 'Probation Baby.' In their music, Plexi Stad transforms cheerful melodies into a dark sound - a similar sound to James Chance & The Contortions - and the poetic punk sound of the vocalist is both seductive as it is dismissive. Their second EP, 'Siren Dance,' is expected to be released in early 2024!

Plexi Stad is supported by Liveurope: the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.
