Liveurope

The Liveurope platform is a quality label awarded to live music venues committing to European diversity. The objective of Liveurope is to boost the programming of young European acts across the continent and help them reach new audiences. Established in 2014, the Liveurope platform is the first initiative of its kind in Europe.

Melkweg is a proud member of Liveurope, a platform of 24 iconic European music venues working together to boost the diversity of Europe’s rich music scene.

Established in 2014, Liveurope encourages music venues to diversify their programmes and seek out the emerging European artists that are yet to be discovered. Being part of the platform provides (VENUE’s NAME) a safety net in order to book more promising talents from beyond our borders and bring them to our stages.

In other words, the Liveurope acts of today are the Christine and The Queens, Years & Years and Rosalía’s of tomorrow.

Since its launch, Liveurope has already supported over 4200 artists representing 40 European nationalities. Thanks to the platform's simple and progressive financial bonus system, the Liveurope venues have been booking on average 46% more emerging European artists since before the initiative started.

As part of the platform, Liveurope also awards its members an EU quality label dedicated to acclaimed venues with a proven commitment to European diversity. All Liveurope members are iconic venues in their respective regions as well as highly professional infrastructures, and the quality label reinforces their position in the international music scene.

The platform is co-funded by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union. It also regularly launches initiatives with national public bodies and foundations to boost the mobility of artists in particular regions. One of them is the Above 55° initiative, supported by the Nordic Culture Fund, which aims to increase the visibility and booking opportunities of young Nordic talent.

Who are the Liveurope members?

What do we do in Liveurope?
We are dedicated to diverse and original concert programming, especially that of up-and-coming talent. We are dedicated to discovering the best new artists from abroad and bringing them to our audiences.

What does the ‘Liveurope’ label indicate?
All concerts that are marked with “Supported by Liveurope” are emerging international acts hand-selected by our own programming team. These concerts are by artists that are at a relative start of their professional music career, but show indisputable promise for international success. Being booked at our venue increases their visibility and reputation on the international music circuit. This helps artists reach new levels in their careers.

What is the Creative Europe Programme?
The aim of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union is to support European cultural, creative, and audio-visual sectors. Liveurope, being one of the first initiatives co-financed by this programme, has the responsibility of bringing new artists and music to new audiences across European borders, supporting emerging musicians in their artistic career.

What is Above 55°?
Above 55° is a music project supported by the Nordic Culture Fund in the scope of the Puls initiative. It is dedicated to increasing the visibility and booking opportunities of up-and-coming Nordic talent, hand-picked by Liveurope’s three Nordic venues: Blå, Debaser and Vega.
