Temples

Temples genoot in 2012 wereldwijd succes toen een indrukwekkende golf aan neo-psychedelische bands in de charts en het festivallandschap floreerde. Op 'Shelter Song' en het erop volgende debuut 'Sun Structures' refeerde de band aan de nostalgische melodieën en hypnotiserende, niet-Westerse grooves die in de jaren '60 werden omarmd. Daarop volgende platen bevatten gelaagder synthwerk (Volcano, 2015), een heruitvinding van de jaren '70 (Hot Motion, 2019), en utopische producties met de creatieve input van Sean Lennon (Exotico, 2023). Deze zomer is daar alweer de vijfde plaat, waarop de band het over een andere boeg gooit.

Bliss

Op vijfde studioalbum 'BLISS', dat uitkomt op 26 juni, zocht het viertal inspiratie in 90's dancemuziek. Met hun vertrouwde psychedelisch riffs en loops zit euforie diep in het DNA van Temples verwoven. Over die inspiratie vertelt de band:

"There’s something special about certain songs from the golden era of Ibiza dance music, it’s euphoric but also tinged with melancholy. The feeling of these songs heavily inspired Vendetta, although we didn’t want to go fully down pastiche route. The production of this song really sums up the record for me, With use of self sampling and creating unusual texture combinations whilst having a strong melodic core. I have always loved songs that are instantly recognisable from the first bar and Vendetta is not shy at pulling you in from the first beat.”

Op dinsdag 3 november komt Temples terug naar Nederland, voor een show in onze hoofdstad.
