IN-EDIT is back! From 13 to 23 April the fifth edition of the music documentary festival takes place at the Melkweg. Again many great music films will be screened this year, like this documentary about the British funk band Cymande.

The British group released three beautiful albums in America in the early 70s and toured intensively until they split up in 1975. At the time of the releases, their music received hardly any support in England, as unfortunately many black British musicians had to experience at the time. The DJs in New York, however, found the records very suitable to play at the birth of new genres such as hip-hop, disco and house and, as a result, songs like 'Bra', 'Dove' and 'Brothers On The Slide' have become true classics. A few years later, Cymande's music was rediscovered by producers and they ensured that a new audience heard the music through sampled tracks by The Fugees, De La Soul, Wu Tang Clan & MC Solaar, among others. This caused the sound to grow and several generations became huge fans of this special group. After the Brits realised how popular they have become among today's music lovers, they got back together and are doing live shows again. The documentary 'Getting It Back: The Story Of Cymande' was screened in our Cinema in May last year by Steppin' Into Tomorrow and now again at IN-EDIT for those who missed it. Discover the story and timeless sound of Cymande, featuring Mark Ronson, Prince Paul, Cut Chemist, Peanut Butter Wolf and Khruangbin.
