The legendary British folk-rock band Levellers is returning to Amsterdam! Mark Chadwick, Alan Miles, Jeremy Cunningham, Charlie Heather, and Jon Sevink forged an alternative punk-folk-rock sound in the 1990s that resulted in the debut album 'A Weapon Called the Word'! The band has already celebrated their 35th anniversary, but their music continues to inspire many. Levellers originated in 1988 in Brighton, England, with the name derived from the radical faction of Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army and the flat landscape of Brighton. With their energetic live shows and musical individuality, they quickly garnered a devoted following. Their politically charged, sometimes angry, but always generous music soon transformed into anthems. Levellers continue to blend folk, rock, and pop with a dose of punk, remaining committed to their political engagement on subjects such as peace, nature, the environment, and anarchism.
As of 2024, the band lineup consists of: Mark Chadwick, Jeremy Cunningham, Dan Donnelly, Charlie Heather, Matt Savage, and Jon Sevink.
