For centuries, tapestries have played an important role in daily life. From ancient Egypt to medieval castles, they were used to decorate walls with stories, while providing warmth, and insulation. In the exhibition ‘A Soft Ode’, Julia Kiryanova pays tribute to this rich history of craftsmanship.

Julia Kiryanova is a multidisciplinary artist from Kazakhstan now based in Amsterdam. Her work spans from tapestry, painting, and performance. Kiryanova’s fascination with textiles stems from its historical and cultural significance and its ability to communicate powerful stories across generations.

In her work, she weaves together ancient myths with modern life, blending reality and imagination into stories about vulnerability, sensuality and the human body.

The exhibition opens on May 9th at 17:30. Explore more by Julia Kiryanova.
