Together with Kaboom Animation Festival, we are bringing the best anime to the big screen! This weekend, we're doing a special Studio Ghibli weekender, in celebration of the new film 'The Boy and the Heron'. We will screen no fewer than ten films by director Hayao Miyazaki, including a unique preview of his latest. Come and enjoy the best Ghibli together on the big screen!

A cursed girl, a graceful wizard and a long-hidden secret. Although you don't really need to know more about this film to enjoy it, the well-known Studio Ghibli elements can also be found in Howl's Moving Castle. Set during times of war, its focus on aviation, and playfulness with the possibilities of magic, thanks to the imagination of the master, Hayao Miyazaki. It is a mesmerising creation that envelops viewers in a captivating world where magic and technology coexist seamlessly. The film's unique charm lies in its exploration of self-discovery and the transformative power of love. Miyazaki's ability to combine whimsical elements with a moving story about the beauty found in the ordinary and the extraordinary makes this film exceptional.

Melkweg often hosts different types of programmes at the same time, such as concerts, club nights and films. Please note that there may occasionally be some noise pollution from other programmes during the screening.
