Pina (2011)

With the closing of the Expo Universal Tongue, we are screening two films about Pina Bausch, one of the most important contributors to modern Tanztheater of the 20th century. In "Pina" Wim Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club, Paris,Texas, Der Himmel über Berlin) takes the audience on a sensual and visually breathtaking journey of discovery not only on the stage of her legendary dance ensemble, but also outside the theater; the city of Wuppertal and its surroundings. This place was Pina Bausch's home from which she drew her creative power for more than 35 years. Pina passed away in the summer of 2009.
