Tinariwen

Tuareg band Tinariwen already proved to be a worthy supporting act for Bombino last year, with their authentic blend of desert blues, folk and country. Tuareg culture may be as old as that of ancient Greece or Rome, and yet the culturally rich fusion of Tinariwen's music speaks to the current and often harsh realities of Tuareg life today. Much more than a rock band, Tinariwen are ambassadors for their people and a way of living in harmony with the natural world that is threatened more than ever.

Their latest, ninth album "Amatssou" displays these sensibilities. Recorded under the starry skies of Mauritania, "Amatssou" contains a message that has never sounded more urgent and compelling. This summer, the band returns to Melkweg, for a show in our Max!
