ĠENN

ROOM: UP | TIME: TBA

The artpunk quartet ĠENN doesn't shy away from any single genre, ranging anywhere from postpunk to artpop, psychrock, noiserock, jazz, and folk. Their eclectic sound draws inspiration from Maltese folk music and the psychedelic sounds of the 1970s. This is evident in their complex, ambitious postpunk, featuring steadfast drum lines, winding vocals, and spoken word with the chaotic energy of a jam session.

Formed in Malta, before the quartet moved to Brighton, they played together for ten years and released an album in 2018 under the name Cryptic Street, titled 'Titty Monster'. On 'Unum', their debut as ĠENN, the group balances their uneasy search for identity with a confident presentation. It's an ambitious record that nonetheless leaves room for mischief.
