The English punk rock band The Damned, alongside bands like the Sex Pistols and The Clash, led the British punk movement in the '70s. They were even the first UK punk band to release a single, namely 'New Rose'. Their fast punk rock is often cited as a major influence on the rise of hardcore punk in the late seventies and early eighties.
In 2024, the band is still keeping punk very much alive. On their latest album, 'Darkadelic', the band showcases a darker and more psychedelic sound, while still staying true to their punk rock roots. Despite numerous line-up changes, the band currently consists of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray!
